Amazon. On the base a relief with the shield of the Amazons. Marble Karyatid. Classical Greek, 2nd century CE Roman copy of a Classical Greek Amazon carved of the temple of Artemis at Ephesos by Pheidias in ca. 440-430 BCE. Found in the Loukou Monastery, in Kynouria. The sculpture adorned the post of a gate in the villa of Herodes Atticus.
