Celestial globe, 1766. This is one of a pair of globes made by George Adams, instrument maker to the king, and is dedicated to King George III, 'the most generous and celebrated patron of astronomers'. It shows constellations in the southern hemisphere based on Nicolas Lacaille's (1713-1762) observations at the Cape of Good Hope from 1740-1744 and the entries in John Flamsteed's (1646-1719) stellar catalogue.
