Nereid riding a sea monster. Detail of a marine procession with Tritons, Nereids and sea monsters celebrating the marriage of Neptune and Amphitrite. This frieze belongs to a marble base known as the Altar of Domitius Aenobarbus. It was probably the base of a statuary group located in the Temple of Neptune and Mars, in the Campo Marzio in Rome. Marble high relief. Hellenistic, 2nd century BCE.
