Base of the Obelisk of Theodosius or Egyptian Obelisk (Dikilitas in Turkish). The base was created at the time of the erection of the obelisk in Costantinople commissioned by Emperor Theodosius in 390 CE. The carvings on the base depict the Emperor and his family in the Kathisma while the look at various events.
