Surrounding her are seven female figures representing the seven liberal arts holding emblems relating to those arts. Four saints are represented at the top of the picture - to the right are St Augustine and St Gregory, iand to left, St Jerome and St Ambrose (Theology). In the bottom corners of the picture are two eminent philosophers - Aristotle (Natural Philosophy) and Seneca (Moral Philosophy).
