Votive Plaque, Neo-Assyrian, 800-700 BCE. Excavated at Northern Iraqu, Nimrud (Kalhu), Temple of Nabu. With inscription: in the form of an amulet, with a lug for suspension at the top and traces of corroded wire surviving in the hole through the lug. The figures of four deities, including Marduk, who is holding a necklace and standing on a dragon, and Nabu, holding a stylus, are incised above the inscription, a dedication to Nabu. Their position is reminiscent of the seal impressions on Neo-Assyrian conveyance texts and dedication texts. Copper alloy, 11cm x 8cm. Thickness: 1 cm. Inv. 118796.
