The attempt to assassinate King Louis Philippe of France, Paris, 1835. On 28th July 1835 a Corsican ex-soldier named Giuseppe Marco Fieschi detonated a bomb in an attempt to kill Louis-Philippe while he was on the way to a military review. The bomb killed twelve people, including Edouard Mortier, Marshal of France, but the king was unharmed. Fieschi, himself injured in the explosion, was arrested, tried and sentenced to death by guillotine.
