Vanson, Adrian (fl. 1580-1601)
George, 5th Lord Seton (about 1531-1585), aged 27. 1570s.  portrayed in the magnificent clothes he wore at the wedding of Mary Queen of Scots and the French Dauphin in April 1558. His baton is that of the Master of the Queen's household, a position he held in 1561, at the age of 27. The portrait was, however, painted later, in the 1570s. Oil on wood,  140 x 270 cm. NG2274;4929. Bequest of Sir Theophilus Biddulph 1948; received 1965.
