Dadd, Richard (1817-1886)
Sir Alexander Morison (1779-1866). 1852. A pioneer of psychiatric medicine and seventeen years a consultant to Bethlem Asylum in Surrey, where he was the artist's physician, he is shown before his estate in Newhaven, just north of Edinburgh. Oil on canvas, 51.1 x 61.3 cm. PG2623;3322. Purchased with assistance from the National Heritage Memorial Fund 1984.
