Bronze helmet with an inscription of Hieron I. It is a record of the defeat of the Etruscans by the Syracusans under their tyrant, Hieron, in a sea battle in 474 BCE. The inscription translates 'Hieron, son of Deinomenes, and the Syracusans, [dedicated] to Zeus Etruscan [spoils] from Cumae'. It was then deposited in the Sanctuary of Zeus at Olympia as a dedication to the god. Inv. 18,230,610.10.
