The gothic arches of the Fortress Belvoir, Israel. Built 1138-1140, it was bought by Hospitaller Knights in 1168 who enlarged the fortress. In 1189, after a siege of 18 months, Sultan Saladdin captured Belvoir. It was wrecked in 1220, to prevent recapture by the Crusaders.
