Encounter of Janus and Saturn. 1524. Identified as a preparatory study for a ceiling fresco in the salon of the villa of Baldassare Turini (later Villa Lante) on the Gianicolo in Rome, illustingo the encounter between Janus and Saturn (Ovide, "Fastes", I, 233-234 ; Macrobe, "Saturnalia", I, 7, 19-26). The handshake seals the Aliance between Peace and the Golden Age. Red chalk, on beige prepared paper, 19.7 x 28.4 cm.
