MEXICO, the Tro-Cortesianus or Madrid codex combines the codex Troano and Cortesiano: it is only one codex; facsimile Matev-Madrid 1930; Maya culture. Ek Chuah, god of merchants, god of trade, presents an offering: the glyph CAN. This glyph (writing system where certain glyphs express concepts, others syllables) is a reference to the ripe maize. The god is surrounded by the glyphs of North (down to the left) and South (left to right). This scene represents a cycle of the divinatory calendar of 260 days called Tzolkin. Lines and dots are numbers, often elements of the calendar. This codex is made of horoscopes and calendars in order to assist the priests in their predictions and ceremonies. Coll.
