Illustration of an Etruscan Mirror, 300BC-200BC. Excavated Bolsena, Italy. Bronze circular mirror with engraved scene illustrating an Etruscan legend. Cacu (Latin Cacus) is seated, playing a lyre. Beside him is the boy Artile, reading from an open writing-tablet (diptych). On either side, Aule and Caile Vipinas (Latin Aulus and Caelius Vibenna) advance, either to eavesdrop on Cacu or to capture him. Around the design is a vine-wreath with bunches of grapes.
