Detail view of a carved Danish bridal chest. Very large solid chest deeply carved on front and around one board to side. Large, heavy iron handles on both ends. Front design is in four sections. Each is recessed with deep carving (fruits) and separated with about 4" carved board. Upper 7" section of front also as 4 panels and each has a carved word (Latin?) "Sidevs. Pfonobis. Qviscon. Tranos". Upper central plain panel has an ornate metal key plate. ca. 1644
