Figure with hooks. Papua-New Guinea, Karawari village, Yimar people, 20th CE or earlier. This type of sculpture was placed in the house of the Arambak men, in Upper Korewori, region of the Amanggabi village. Anthropoligists called them therefore Kamanggabi, but the people themselves prefer Yipwon. Such objects were favourable to hunting and harvests. Wood, 184 x 5 x 31.5 cm. 70.2007.41.1.
