Swan mask. Yup'ik (Eskimo) Culture, Alaska, mouth of the Kuskokwim river. According to the collector, the mask was used during the last winter festival. The face represents the shaman's assistant spirit responsible for bringing swans, geese, ducks and other birds as a food source to the coast at springtime.
