Rosette pendant, 16th century. This pendant is one of the oldest gems in the Green Vault. It comes from the possession of the Elector Anna of Saxony (1532-1585). The center of the jewel is a star of twelve diamonds cut in relief. There are three emeralds and three rubies alternately around this star. Naturalistic golden branch includes the unpolished color stones and adapts to their shape. The composition of the diamond star from meh rere polished stones has its cause in the fact that the multiple facet was not yet known at the time and the sparkle of the Ede lsteine could only be generated by the assembly of many burrs honed stones. Gold, 12 diamonds, 3 rubies and 3 emeralds. 5.3 c 4.5 cm. Place of production: Nuremberg or Augsburg, Germany. Inv no. VIII 29816th c
