End-on view of the coffin of Hor, Egyptian, 22nd Dynasty, ca. 850 BCE. This finely painted wooden coffin is inscribed with the name of Hor, whose mummified body it contained. A scarab beetle has been painted on top of the head, symbolising the daily return of the sun and continuity of life. EA 6659.
