Ivory headrest, Egyptian, 12th Dynasty, c1985-c1795 BC. This wonderful ivory headrest (they were normally made of wood or stone) was used to support the head of the deceased. This example is from the tomb of Gua at Deir el-Bersha, one of the major provincial cemeteries known from the late First Intermediate Period. Inv. EA 30727.
