Marble grave relief showing a husband and wife. Rome, Italy c.80 BC. This grave relief was originally set within a tomb on the Via Nomentana to the north-east of Rome. The stone commemorates in some detail Aurelia Philematium, the wife of Lucius Aurelius Herma, a butcher from the Viminal Hill in Rome. The image of the couple is framed with inscriptions in which each extols the other's virtues.  reg. no.: GR 1867,0508.55.
