Cloister, second floor. Designed by architect Juan Guas, the Franciscan monastery was built from 1477 to 1504 by the order of the Catholic Monarchs Ferdinand II and Isabella I, to commemorate Spain's victory over the Portuguese army at the Battle of Toro in 1476. The monastery is in Hispano-Flemish Gothic style. The two-storey cloister was designed by the Castilian architect Enrique Egas.
