The Donne Triptych. Center: The Virgin and Child with Saint Catherine of Alexandria, Saint Barbara, and Donors; left: Saint John the Baptist; right: Saint John the Evangelist. About 1478. The triptych was probably commissioned from Memling in Bruges by Sir John Donne of Kidwelly, a Welshman resident in Calais, in the late 1470s. Oil on oak. Acquired under the terms of the Finance Act from the Duke of Devonshire's Collection, 1957 (NG6275).
