Hojo garden with Kannon statues. Engaku-ji, Kamakura. This temple, founded in 1282, is one of the most important Zen Buddhist temples in Japan. The 100 kannon stone statues of the Hojo were enshrined by Sesso Sonja on the Edo Era, and Zen master Kosen in the Meiji Era.
