Tahoto Pagoda, Ishiyamadera Temple, Otsu. This Shingon temple was founded in 762 CE by the a Kegon priest named Ryoben. The pagoda, serving as the treasure tower, was built by Minamoto Yoritomo in 1194 in the Kamakura period. It is the oldest of its kind in Japan.
