Statue of a hunter-god, possibly Attis. Roman Britain, 2nd CE. From Bevis Marks, City of London. The figure has long been considered to be that of Attis, but the attributes are not exclusive to him. A more recent interpretation, which relates the statue to new evidence from London and other British sites, identifies the figure as a hunter-god, who appears to have been a conflation of Apollo, an Eastern saviour-god and a British god of male youth.
