Black and white mosaic with the head of Medusa. This floor mosaic was found in the Baths of Caracalla in Rome. The artist used tesserae whose natural color was black and white to avoid the fading of the colors due to the presence of water and steam in the baths. The mosaic is dating from 212-216 AD.
