Battle of Coal Harbor Va. June 1st 1864. The army of the Potomac advancing towards Richmond encountered the enemy at Coal Harbor, on June 1st about half past five A.M. the order was given to charge the Rebel works, and the Union troops advanced under a heavy fire of grape and cannister, driving the rebels before them and taking the position, which was firmly held in spite of the enemys desperate efforts to regain it.
