The Battle of Cedar Creek, Va. Oct. 19th 1864. This great Battle was fought in the Valley of the Shenandoah, between the Union army under Gen. Philip H. Sheridan, and the Rebel Army commanded by Gen. Early. The above plate represents the arrival of Gen. Sheridan at the battle field, who at once rallied his retreating troops, and turned an apparent defeat into a glorious victory; Capturing nearly 7000 prisoners, including 3000 wounded, 55 Cannon, 10 battle flags, 300 Wagons and ambulances, and great quantities of small arms, horses, mules and accoutrements left behind by the routed Rebels.
