Beja Castle - keep (Torre de Menagem). The castle dates from the 13th century. While resting on Roman fortifications, the castle was rebuilt by King Dinis (Denis) in 1310. The most significant aspect of the castle is the imposing keep (Torre de Menagem), now the symbol of the city of Beja, with its battlements and narrow walkway running around the tower.
