Monastery of Santa Maria de Alcobaca, Tomb of King Pedro I, sarcophagus of Ines. King Pedro commissioned marble tombs for himself and his beloved, facing each other so that on Judgment Day their first sight will be of each other. Though damaged, their sarcophagi are the greatest pieces of sculpture from 14th-century Portugal.
