Base of the Porphyrios monument. It supported the statue of this famous charioteer. The sides are decorated with him on his chariot and scenes of the hippodrome of Constantinople. The monument stood in the spina of the hippodrome. Marble pillar with bas-reliefs. Byzantine, late 5th-early 6th century CE.
