Shark hook. Hawaii, probably 18th CE. It is thought that this hook was collected on Captain Cook's Third Voyage in 1778. Hawaiian shark hooks were owned by high-ranking men, and shark fishing was a popular sport of the Hawaiian chiefs. Length: 23 cm. Inv. Oc,HAW.62.
