Barry, Charles (1795-1860)
West front of Westminster Palace's Clock Tower, better known as the Big Ben, London. The 11th century original building, built by Edward the Confessor and William the Conqueror burnt in the 1834 fire. The present Neo-Gothic building, designed by Sir Charles Barry and Augustus Welby Pugin, was built in 1836-88.
