Barry, Charles (1795-1860)
Westminster Palace overlooking the Thames River, London. The 11th century original building, built by Edward the Confessor and William the Conqueror burnt in the 1834 fire. The present Neo-Gothic building, designed by Sir Charles Barry and Augustus Welby Pugin, was built in 1836-88. It houses the Parliament with the House of Commons and the House of Lords.
