Edirne Gate in the city walls of Costantinopolis. This city gate was commissioned by Byzantine Emperor Theodosius II in 412-13 CE. The architect was Anthemius, Prefect of the East. Ottoman Sultan Mehmet II made his triumphal entry into the city in the early afternoon of May 29, 1453 through this gate. This cate it is also named Porta Adrianopoleos, Porta Polyandriou.
