Barry, Charles (1795-1860)
Left lion of the Royal Entrance, Victoria Tower, Westminster Palace, London. The 11th century original building, built by Edward the Confessor and William the Conqueror burnt in the 1834 fire. The present Neo-Gothic building, designed by Sir Charles Barry and Augustus Welby Pugin, was built in 1836-88. It houses the Parliament with the House of Commons and the House of Lords. The Monarch passes through this entrance at the State Opening of Parliament.
