Westminster Hall, Westminster Palace, London. This hall is the only part of the 11th century original building, built by Edward the Confessor and William the Conqueror, that survived the 1834 fire. The rest of this Neo-Gothic building, designed by Sir Charles Barry and Augustus Welby Pugin, was built in 1836-88. In this hall were sentenced Thomas More, Guy Fawkes and Charles II.
