Modern reconstruction of the Columna Rostrata. This triumphal column was erected in the forum at Rome to commemorate the defeat of the Carthaginian fleet by Gaius Duilius off Mylae, on the northeast coast of Sicily, in 260 BCE. It was adorned with the prows (rostra) of the captured.
