Jones, Inigo (1573-1652)
Queen's House from the northwest, Greenwich. The building was commissioned by King James I for his wife Anne of Denmark, and after her death, the new Queen Henrietta Maria. The architect Inigo Jones built it in 1616-19 and 1629-35. The colonnades were added in 1816. From 1808 to 1933 it was occupied by the Naval Asylum School (renamed the Royal Hospital School in 1821).
