Nash, John (1752-1835)
Northern view of Marble Arch, London. This triumphal arch and Wellington Arch were planned in 1825 by King George IV to celebrate British victories in the Napoleonic Wars. It was built with Carrara marble in 1828 on a design by John Nash. It stood orginally on the Mall as a gateway to Buckingham Palace and was moved to the present location in 1851.
