Stokesay Castle, Shropshire, 1997. Here the west range, which includes the Great Hall and domestic appartments, is viewed across the flower beds in the courtyard. A well head can be seen. Stokesay Castle is the finest and best-preserved 13th century fortified manor house in England. It was fortified by Lawrence de Ludlow, a wool merchant, who died in 1294.
