Throne Room, Hall of Mental Cultivation (Yang Xin Dian). Inner Court, Imperial Palace (Forbidden City), Beijing. This hall was built in 1537 by Ming emperor Jiajing. Here Empress Dowager Longyu declared the end of the Qing Dynasty on February 12, 1912. Puyi, China's last emperor, lived here after his abdication until he was driven out of the Imperial Palace by General Feng Yuxiang in 1924. The plaque above the throne written by emperor Yongzheng reads: Mean, Just, Benevolent and Harmony (Zhong Zheng Ren He).
