Inner Gate, Temple of the White Clouds (Baiyun Guan), Beijing. This Taoist temple dating originally from 739 was rebuilt and restored several times, including in the 1220s by order of emperor Taizu (Genghis Khan). It bore many names: Tianchang Monastery, Taiji Palace, Changchun Palace. It took the present name and appearance when it was reconstructed under the Ming in the early 15th century.
