Gate of Great Fortune (Jing Yun Men) leading from the Outer Court into the Inner Court. Imperial Palace (Forbidden City), Beijing. This Gate was originally built in 1420 by emperor Yongle and rebuilt in 1655. During the Qing Dynasty no one (not even the Princes) could come closer than twenty paces away from the steps of the gate, unless the emperor summoned them.
