Throne, Palace of Heavenly Purity (Qian Qing Gong). Inner Court, Imperial Palace (Forbidden City), Beijing. This Palace was originally built in 1420 by emperor Yongle and rebuilt in 1798. Ming and Qing emperors lived in this palace. It was also used to show the coffin of the dead emperor. A box holding the name of the new monarch was kept behind the plaque above the throne.
