Gilded bronze lion, south front of the Gate of Heavenly Purity (Qianqing Men). Inner Court, Imperial Palace (Forbidden City), Beijing. This Gate was originally built in 1420 by emperor Yongle and rebuilt in 1655. It was the main entrance of the Inner Court, the private part of the imperial palace.
