the vault of the central apse with frescoes on the life of St. Francis, by Benozzo Gozzoli, 1450. Divided into six sections divided by ribs decorated with plant motifs, the vault represents five Saints of the Order (from the left: San Louis of Toulouse, St. Elizabeth of Hungary, St. Bernardino of Siena, St. Claire of Montefalco and St. Anthony of Padua). In the wider rib vaultu Benozzo represents "Saint Francis in Glory between Angels". The intrados of the arch reproposes some medallions with St. Francis at the centre and his twelve companions.
