Tomyris and Cyrus. Oil on canvas, 176 x 176 cm. Earliest known copy after an original by the Master of Flémalle (formerly considered identical with Robert Campin). According to Herodotus, Tomyris, Queen of the Massageti (6th BCE), ambushed the Persian King Cyrus II after the defeat and death of her son Spargapises.
