Departure of the Protestants of Ziller Valley (Zillertal). 1839 On January 21, 1837 the Emperor of Austria Ferdinand I ordered the expulsion of all Protestant citizens living in the Ziller Valley. On July 20, 1837, the expelled population received assurance from the Prussian King Fredrick William III who allowed them to settle in lower Silesia. Between August 31 and September 4, 1837, 427 people leave their homeland. Oil on canvas, 128 x 90 cm. Inv. 1414.
